Topic Option #4: Personas in Marketing

Persona:

A persona in my words means an imagery consumer created by a company based on a  set characteristics and descriptions ranging from income level, profession, age , gender, hobbies, etc. used to symbolize a a specific market group. This allows a company to better understand how similar consumers feel about their product and tailor their products to their needs.

Example:
B2C car buyer persona example

This is an example I found from a marketing blog known as Alexa Blog. In the example we can see a clear example of a persona that might be used by a car company trying to understand who the typical buyer of an small SUV would be. You can see it has information on the consumer such as their age, occupation, needs as it relates to the product (automobile). This is all valuable information to the marketing team of this car company because it will allow to market their product, in this case a small SUV to be more desirable to the needs and lifestyle of Kyle, the persona.

In terms of what a digital marketer would need to make an create an effective persona, they would need the following information:

- Gender
- Age
-  Occupation
- Income level
- Product Wants and Needs
- Interests
- Info on how they consume advertisements/media
- Lifestyle
- Goals

To conclude, in order to figure out specific information for a persona, a marketing team would need to conduct both primary and secondary research. This can include conducting interviews, focus groups, surveys and studies.
